RuPaul’s Drag Race is definitely one of the most well-known and popular reality television competitions currently on television. While sadly, the show isn’t available to stream on Netflix, there are some other shows you can watch to get your fix. Drag Race is a dynamic, creative show that’s full of humor, emotion, and inspiring talent. There are many other series you can watch on Netflix that can fulfill these same things, even if they aren’t quite the same. From reality television to comedies to dramas, these 10 Netflix shows are perfect to watch if you’re looking for something to fill the void between Drag Race episodes.

10. GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF

While these two shows are very different in a lot of ways, they are both internet favorites. They might seem completely different on face value, but they have some things in common. Beyond the obvious fact that they are both reality competitions, they are both shows that have a lot of heart.

While Bake Off might be more subdued, both shows have contestants that viewers come to love and route for over the episodes. Plus, the creativity of baking is just as inspiring as the outfits on the runway.

9. GRACE AND FRANKIE

Grace and Frankie isn’t a reality television show, but it is a great Netflix original with LGBT+ themes. The show has five seasons that are available on Netflix already, and a sixth season has been renewed and set for release in 2020. If you love a show that makes you fall in love with the characters, Grace and Frankie is perfect for you. This show will make you laugh and cry, just like RuPaul’s Drag Race.

8. SKIN WARS

If you love creative reality competitions, Skin Wars is definitely worth watching. This show isn’t as popular as others that are similar to it, but it does have one big connection to RuPaul’s Drag Race as RuPaul himself is a judge on the show.

It’s a competition of body painters, and you’ll be amazed at some of the designs that the contestants put together. Plus, it’s a fun time to see Ru outside of the show and see some of his many facets.

7. NAILED IT!

This show is based on the idea of Pinterest fails, and it will have you laughing ’til you cry. Hosted by the hilarious Nicole Byer, the show tasks regular people with advanced baking tasks as seen on Pinterest and the internet. The show pokes gentle fun at other baking shows and illustrated just how difficult these tasks really are.

You won’t be able to stop laughing, and you’ll love the camaraderie that’s apparent here. This show would probably be made even better by including drag queens, so hopefully, Netflix takes note and combines these two things in the future.

6. SKIN WARS FRESH PAINT

Skin Wars Fresh Paint is similar to the original but with a slightly different approach. Instead of having a whole season where contestants compete to one, each episode has a winner. The show has former contestants mentor newbies, and there is one winner at the end of each episode. RuPaul is also a judge on these newer seasons, so, if you just can’t get enough, you’ll definitely want to watch this spin-off.

5. HURRICANE BIANCA

Hurricane Bianca isn’t a television show, but it’s definitely something that fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race will want to watch. This movie stars Bianca del Rio, winner of the sixth season of the series and a fan-favorite.

In the movie, Bianca moves from NYC to a small town in Texas where he is fired from his teaching job for being gay. This is when the character takes on the Bianca persona and returns to teach, posing as a woman, with a lot of anger, shade, and hilarity that Bianca del Rio is known for.

4. SUGAR RUSH

Sugar Rush is another baking show on this list, which is mostly because baking shows are fun, colorful, and engaging. Many of the challenges on RuPaul’s Drag Race are full of colors, creativity, and excitement, and this is the case with many of the beautiful deserts on Sugar Rush. If you just can’t get enough of baking shows, you’ll definitely want to add this Netflix original to your list.

3. QUEER EYE

Most people are aware that Queer Eye: More Than a Makeover has been one of Netflix’s most popular original series. The show really blew up, and people love the positivity, creativity, and inspiration that comes from this show. Just like on Drag Race, this is a show that will make you laugh and cry. It also is a show that shows the beauty and creativity in the LGBT community, and overall, it just makes people feel good to watch it. While the two shows are very different, there is also a fashion element to Queer Eye that RuPaul fans will enjoy.

2. SUPER DRAGS

This series is a little different than the others on the list since it’s animated. While a cartoon, the show is for adults.

It tells the story of three gay men who become superhero drag queens and fight against bigotry and conservative politicians. If you are in the mood to try something new that will make you laugh and smile, you should definitely give this series a try.

1. DANCING QUEEN

Dancing Queen is another Netflix original, and it is the reality show based on the life of one of Drag Race’s most famous contestants. Alyssa Edwards, known in real life as Justin Johnson, runs a successful dance studio in Mesquite, Texas. The show is a bit of a mix of Dance Moms meets drag queens. Plus, if you love Alyssa Edwards, you’ll be sure to enjoy it. There’s a lot of comedic moments in this show, and you’ll also be rooting for the Beyond Belief Dance Company to succeed.
