For the past five years, Grace and Frankie has been giving us all the laughs and all the feels of aging in a society that doesn’t always appreciate its elders. The two best friends have broken down barriers and fought for their right to be treated the same as everyone else, regardless of their age or hip pain.
The series premiered with two unlikely women coming together after going through painful divorces but so much has changed since then. After season six came out this January, we see many of the main cast settled and in a completely different emotional state than when we first met them. And with season seven (coming out in 2021) being the last season, fans have questions from season six they’re hoping to have answered.
DOES NICK STAY IN JAIL?
At the beginning of the sixth season, Grace is seen telling Frankie that she is now a married woman. She and Nick eloped in Las Vegas and the only reason why she didn’t tell Frankie is that she didn’t know how she’d react.
Frankie eventually realized Grace and Nick love each other and that she needed to get used to her new normal. However, by the end of the season, we see Nick being taken away in handcuffs for security fraud and tax invasion. Does he ever get out of jail by season seven? And does this mean Grace moves back in with Frankie?
AND DOES HIS IMPRISONMENT PUT A WEDGE IN HIS MARRIAGE TO GRACE?
Grace and Nick are technically newlyweds but with him being in jail, how does that affect their marriage? It’s obvious Grace is serious about Nick, even if they did rush the wedding, but a lie like Nick’s is big enough to really take a toll on a relationship.
Then again, maybe we’ll see Grace visiting Nick in jail with Robert or Sol as his lawyers!
WILL RISE UP EVER HAPPEN?
The Rise Up is a fantastic invention created by Grace and Frankie. It’s innovative, sleek, and would make a killing. Just imagine if therapy centers or hospitals began buying The Rise Up for their patients!
Getting on Shark Tank was a huge deal for Grace and Frankie. For Grace to throw their idea in the bag after ignoring Mark Cuban’s offer was a very poor decision. Without Mark’s help, the women may not be able to market their toilet successfully. Sure, it’s great that they found the start-up money from Nick’s couch but what about insurance issues, marketing, and tech?
WILL BARRY AND BRIANNA WORK AS AN ENGAGED COUPLE?
Brianna is an independent, ball-buster. She doesn’t need a man to fulfill her or make her whole but she is human and is in need of the human connection. Barry seemed like an odd choice for Brianna in the beginning but once they spent more time together, it was clear opposites really do attract.
Sadly, in this season, Brianna’s fear of children put a wedge in her relationship with Barry. It became such an issue that Barry thought the best way to go about their relationship would be to end it. The idea of losing Barry gutted Brianna so she decided to show her devotion to him by proposing. Barry seemed thrilled by Brianna’s gesture but is it enough to save their relationship?
WILL MALLORY ACTUALLY TAKE THE JOB IN SAN FRANCISCO?
Brianna and Mallory didn’t have the best sister-to-sister season. It was clear Mallory wasn’t being appreciated at Say Grace by her sister and was interested in other options. This, of course, annoyed Brianna and she called Mallory a traitor.
Nevertheless, over a few hiccups (thanks to Grace), Say Grace’s competitor, Trust Us Organics, bought out Say Grace, forcing Brianna into a new position. They originally offered her a supervising role in San Francisco, but when she turned it down, Mallory took it.
AND HOW DOES THAT AFFECT HER FAMILY?
We don’t see much of Mallory’s home life in season six like we did in earlier seasons. Now that Mallory is divorced, a single mother, and in the dating scene, how is moving to San Francisco going to affect her family life? It’s not the closest commute for her children, not to mention the strain it will have on her relationship with Brianna.
Brianna would technically be we working under Mallory, which is a new dynamic they’ve never done before. And while the girls may deny it, they really do rely on one another. Doing distance could have a strange effect on their relationship.
WHAT IS THE OUTCOME OF SOL’S CANCER?
It was heartbreaking when Sol found out he had prostate cancer. Although it was slow-moving, Sol was torn whether or not to have the surgery.
But for the sake of his mind, he went through with it. In the next and final season, we’re hoping to find out more about Sol’s prognosis and how he’s healing.
WILL MALLORY AND BRIANNA MAKE UP?
As aforementioned, Mallory and Brianna had a hard sixth season. With Mallory feeling underappreciated and overworked, a new experience seemed like the best thing for her. She and Principal Dan also broke up, so something positive in her life would be exceptional for her spirts.
And while the job in San Francisco is exactly what Mallory needed, it’s exactly what Brianna didn’t need. She hasn’t had a “boss” since taking over Say Grace from her mother and now that young younger sister was going to be her supervisor was a hard pill to swallow. Will these two ever make up?
DOES FRANKIE CHOOSE BETWEEN JACOB AND JACK?
It was a huge twist when Jacob came back into Frankie’s life in the sixth season! After hearing that Frankie was dying (which wasn’t true), he dropped everything to be with her. He realized she was missing from his life and wanted to be with her again.
But his timing couldn’t have been worse because Frankie just started hanging out Jack — a fellow Deadhead! She tried juggling the two men for a couple of days but it blew up in her face with both men leaving her. Will Frankie reconnect with one of them in season seven? Time will tell.
DOES COYOTE FINALLY HAVE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER?
Coyote has been through hell and back. After battling substance abuse for years, he’s on the right track and has his helpful family to thank. We’ve seen him deal with finding a home, to landing a job and trying to date. Sadly, none of his dates ever worked out… Until Jessica.
Jess was—funny enough—Bud’s ex-girlfriend but Coyote fell for her after running into each other at Frankie’s house. By the end of the season, it was abundantly clear that Coyote and Jessica had a deep connection and were thinking longterm. Hopefully, we see a happy ending in this couple’s future in the last season.
