Pretty Little Liars may have ended in 2017, but that doesn’t mean that we had to completely say goodbye to the Liars. The drama that they were going through while living in Rosewood finally came to a close after seven seasons and we learned the identity of A.D., a huge twist that none of us saw coming. Although the finale may have left a lot of us wanting more from the series and with questions that we didn’t get answers to, it’s time for all of us and for the cast to move on from the show.
If you enjoyed seeing how the cast of Pretty Little Liars portrayed the characters on the show, then you’ll be happy to learn that the cast has moved on to appearing in a ton of other movies and TV shows. Although they’re not (always) the characters we knew and loved on PLL, it’s still niece to see them in other projects.
To see 10 things the Pretty Little Liars cast has appeared in since the show ended, keep reading!
Shay Mitchell: You
You is a series that originally aired on Lifetime before being put on Netflix, where it really became popular with a much wider audience. This series follows a bookstore employee named Joe who meets and immediately falls for a customer named Beck.
In this series, Pretty Little Liars’ Shay Mitchell, who played Emily on PLL, plays the role of Peach. Peach is the rich, sometimes slightly outspoken best friend of Beck, and among the only people in the series who sees straight through Joe.
Ian Harding: Chicago Med
Ian Harding played the new teacher at Rosewood high, Ezra Fitz. We were totally jealous throughout the entire series that Aria got to have Ezra as a teacher and we rooted for their relationship from the very beginning. Since leaving PLL, Ian Harding went on to have a guest role in the series Chicago Med.
Along with Ian Harding, Torrey DeVitto already appears on the show playing Dr. Natalie Manning. In Pretty Little Liars, DeVitto played the role of Melissa Hastings, Spencer’s older and totally sketchy sister.
Janel Parrish: The Perfectionists
Not everyone who was once on Pretty Little Liars gave up their role when the show ended! The Perfectionists is a spin-off series that was based on another novel series by the same author that wrote Pretty Little Liars.
The series only lasted a single season, but was set after the events of PLL. In the series, Janel Parrish came back to reprise her role on Mona Vanderwaal. In The Perfectionists, Mona has a job at the local university and has been working to try to turn her life around. Way to go, Mona!
Lucy Hale: Truth Or Dare
Truth or Dare is a totally terrifying horror movie that was released in 2018 and stars Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale and former star of Teen Wolf, Tyler Posey. In Pretty Little Liars, Lucy Hale played Aria, one of the Liars who had been living in Iceland prior to the start of the series due to some serious family drama.
In Truth or Dare, she’s a college student that loves to volunteer. When she takes a trip to Mexico and is asked by a local to play a game of truth or dare with her friends, her life takes a terrifying and totally bizarre twist. Can they finish the game and make it out alive?
Tyler Blackburn: Roswell, New Mexico
Roswell, New Mexico is a science fiction drama and a reboot of the classic sci-fi series Roswell. It premiered in 2019 and follows the daughter of undocumented immigrants who falls in love with someone, only to find out that they’re secretly an alien.
Tyler Blackburn appears in the series as Alex Manes, a military veteran with some major drama going on in his life. In Pretty Little Liars, he played the role of Caleb, a troubled teen who helped the Liars out of a sticky situation before he fell for Hanna.
Troian Bellisario: Where’d You Go, Bernadette
Where’d You Go, Bernadette is the movie adaptation of a novel by the same name. This movie was released in 2019 and stars Cate Blanchett as Bernadette Fox, an architect whose life seems completely perfect. When she disappears, her daughter sets out to find out where she went.
In this movie, Troian Bellisario plays the role of Becky, one of the people Bernadette means on her travels. In Pretty Little Liars, Troian Bellisario played Spencer, the bookworm of the group and the twin sister of Alex Drake, the person that was revealed at the end of the series to be the leader of the A-Team.
Sasha Pieterse: The Perfectionists
Alison was a huge part of Pretty Little Liars. The entire series was focused around her disappearance, potential murder, and the fact that she had an entire life that the Liars had no idea about, despite being her best friends before she disappeared.
In PLL, Alison is played by Sasha Pieterse, and that same actress reprises her role for the single season of The Perfectionists that aired. In The Perfectionists, Alison has left Rosewood behind and is now a college professor. She’s really moved on from all the drama of Pretty Little Liars and, shockingly, is even divorced from Emily! Unfortunately, she finds herself twisted up in a whole new kind of drama.
Lindsey Shaw: 1/1
In Pretty Little Liars, Lindsey Shaw played the role of Paige, one of the students at Rosewood high and a fellow member of the swim team alongside Emily. She was a character that went through a lot of changes through the series, going from someone who seemed totally sketchy at first to a character that many of us actually liked by the end.
In 2018, Lindsey Shaw starred in the movie 1/1. In the movie, she plays the role of Lissa, a 20-year-old living in a rural part of Pennsylvania whose life changes when she realizes that she might be pregnant. She’s forced to take a look at her life and what she’s been doing and where her future is going to take her.
Holly Marie Combs: Grey’s Anatomy
Holly Marie Combs is an actress that played the role of Ella Montgomery, the mother of Aria and Mike. She wasn’t a major character in the series, but the moms of the show definitely played a big part in some of the storylines.
Since the show ended, she had a guest role on Grey’s Anatomy. In the episode, she played the role of someone who comes into the hospital with her sister after they learned that their sibling suffered a major accident and was left brain dead. And to make the episode even more special, her sister is played by her former Charmed co-star, Alyssa Milano.
Keegan Allen: What/If
What/If is a thriller miniseries that premiered on Netflix in 2019. This series is one that explores the idea of what would happen if people just completely changed the way they behaved. What if the things that people consider right and socially acceptable were flipped on their heads?
Keegan Allen captured all our hearts in Pretty Little Liars as Toby Cavanaugh, a character that started out as the prime suspect for being on the A-Team, turned into someone we really trusted, was revealed to really be on the A-Team, and then went back to being a favorite character of many people. He has a minor role in What/If which is a really fun surprise for PLL fans that watch the series!
