This year’s refresh of the 12-inch MacBook helped Apple achieve a 30% increase in Mac shipments in Q2, according to TrendForce data, but its shipments for the first half of the year were still down 23.4% on last year’s numbers … Apple now has a 7.9% share of the laptop market, sitting in fifth place behind Lenovo, HP, Dell and Asus. Apple remains ahead of Acer, Samsung and Toshiba. TrendForce notes that laptop sales usually peak in the second half of the year thanks to back-to-school and holiday purchases, and Apple should benefit particularly strongly as it finally updates the MacBook Pro range, which has not been refreshed since spring of last year....

In the age of franchise-building filmmaking, major studios have been dashing out to create movies from established IP, in hopes of setting up the next big franchise. So, it is commonplace in cinemas and streaming platforms to find potential franchise starters. This is where the term “sequel bait” is applied for those movies that are blatantly designed or subtly hinted to establish future sequels and followups. So, it can be an awkward nonstarter if such movies fall flat on first impression and yet (perfectly) teased a followup that never happened....

Not every show can go on for 15 seasons and counting like Grey’s Anatomy. Or even two seasons, it turns out. Some series burn bright but only briefly. The history of TV is littered with shows that only lasted a single season – or a few episodes. And many of them deserved much better than what they got. After years of Back and forth between Ezra Miller and Warner Bros, we’re finally getting a Flash movie set to premiere in July of 2022. Without much news about the plot of the movie, we should still be very excited about the scarlet speedster’s first official movie on the big screen. Yeah, we love Grant Gustin as The Flash on the popular CW show, but with a bigger budget and a cast of experienced actors, we can’t help but get excited about the movie....

Disney has had to create a range of brand new content to make the Disney+ streaming service appear much more attractive to potential subscribers. For the last month, I’ve been using Apple’s new 12-inch Retina MacBook almost exclusively. There’s no denying that’s it’s underpowered when compared to other models on the market, but is its portability worth the performance sacrifice? There are plenty of bad acting performances in the history of film. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is one of the best pieces of media to emerge from Netflix’s many new productions. Based on the comic book with the same name, it features a much more nefarious version of the happy-go-lucky teen witch and her family, placing her not just among other fresh-faced teens but within a magical school filled with cannibalism, sadism and sacrifice to the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord, also known as Satan or Lucifer, is supposed to be the powerful devil himself, capable of all things evil....

Every character on Friends has a particular charm. They all react to each other in a way that, even if you could only see the effect, it wouldn’t be hard to guess the cause. An eye roll from Joey or Chandler? Ross probably just admitted that he gave up sports to become a scientist. A frustrated sigh from Ross? Phoebe probably just told him the “truth” about gravity. Either that or he just found out that Rachel’s father is in town....

Thanks to its 2017 revival, Twin Peaks has been part of the pop culture conversation in the past few years. Although the subject matter of the show is fairly serious, the tone is very whimsical and at times, completely strange.
